Man arrested after knife robberies in Frankfurt

A 29-year-old man is alleged to have committed an attempted robbery and then a completed robbery in Frankfurt on 7 February. At about 5:40 p.m., he allegedly displayed a knife and demanded cash at a shop on Am Salzhaus, but fled when the cash register could not be opened. At 6:15 p.m., he is alleged to have obtained a mid-three-figure sum of cash from a hotel on Kaiserstraße in the same manner. Police had identified him but initially could not find him. During the night, the suspect contacted police from the Bahnhofsviertel to report that he had been robbed; he was then taken into custody to be brought before a judge.
