Man attacks father with hammer and knife in Frankenthal
An 18-year-old man attacked his 51-year-old father with a hammer and a knife in the father's apartment in Frankenthal during the night before Monday. The father escaped and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police provisionally arrested the attacker at the scene. Later that day, a judge issued a remand order on urgent suspicion of attempted murder in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm. Investigations into the background and motive are continuing.
