Man held in pre-trial detention after knife attack on wife in Essen
Following a verbal dispute, a 43-year-old man is alleged to have strangled his 33-year-old wife, injured her with a knife and repeatedly threatened to kill her at their shared flat in Essen-Dellwig on Friday evening. The woman called police at about 9 p.m. and was taken to hospital with serious injuries that may have been life-threatening. The man was arrested, and Essen Local Court ordered pre-trial detention on suspicion of attempted murder at the prosecution's request. A homicide squad and prosecutors are continuing the investigation.
