Man found with stab wounds in Essen
Passers-by found a heavily bleeding 33-year-old man at the miners' memorial at Rellinghauser Straße/Freiheit in Essen at about 8:30 p.m. on 31 May. He had suffered severe stab wounds and was taken to hospital after receiving initial treatment, where potentially life-threatening injuries were diagnosed and he underwent emergency surgery. Further blood traces led investigators to a nearby building on Rellinghauser Straße, where the attack is believed to have taken place shortly beforehand. The search for the suspect or suspects was unsuccessful, and the homicide investigation unit is investigating attempted manslaughter.
