Two men seriously injured in shooting and stabbing incident in Essen
Following an altercation in Essen-Katernberg on 25 October, police found two seriously injured men on Viktoriastraße. Initial findings indicated that the 22-year-old had suffered both gunshot and stab wounds and was in life-threatening condition, while a 19-year-old had a stab wound. Both men were taken to hospital, and the 22-year-old underwent emergency surgery that evening. A homicide investigation unit took over the case and later arrested a 23-year-old Essen resident as a suspect. Investigators were still examining the motive and circumstances.
