Woman seriously injured in stabbing at Essen central station

On the evening of 21 September, two women first became involved in a verbal argument on the southern side of Essen central station. During the dispute, a 36-year-old woman stabbed a 41-year-old woman in the chest with a stabbing weapon. The injured woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after receiving treatment from emergency medical personnel.

The suspect initially fled but was arrested near the scene shortly afterwards. She had superficial cuts and also received medical treatment; investigators were examining whether she had accidentally inflicted them herself. At the request of prosecutors, a warrant for attempted manslaughter was issued against the 36-year-old.
