Man threatens police with knife in Erkrath
On 16 June, a witness alerted police after seeing a man with a knife on Sandheider Straße in Erkrath-Hochdahl. At about 09:55, officers encountered the 59-year-old man, who threatened them with the knife he was carrying. He was seriously injured when officers subsequently fired a shot and was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment. No other people or emergency personnel were injured. Düsseldorf police are investigating the firearms deployment; according to the statement, the background remains unclear.
