Man with knife approaches police officers in Erding
On Saturday evening, a caller reported a person carrying a knife near Altenerding S-Bahn station. Police officers found a 31-year-old man holding a knife on the platform. When he continued to approach the officers with the knife and did not comply with instructions to put it down, officers first fired warning shots. After he kept moving toward them, they shot him in the leg. He sustained a thigh injury, received initial treatment and was taken to hospital; police said the injury was not life-threatening. The State Criminal Police Office and the Landshut public prosecutor's office are reviewing the use of the firearm, while Erding criminal police are investigating the man.
