Man allegedly injured security employee with knife in Emden

A 54-year-old man allegedly attacked a 74-year-old security employee with a knife in an administrative building in Emden, injuring the employee’s hand. The employee had been called to a dispute inside the building and had informed the man of an existing ban from the premises. According to police and prosecutors, the man stabbed toward the employee’s upper body and head at about 09:20. The injured employee required medical treatment. The suspect initially fled but was arrested shortly afterward. At the request of prosecutors, he was provisionally placed in a psychiatric facility on 22 January; the investigation is ongoing.
