Man threatens police officer in Duisburg with knife-like object
A 51-year-old man was identified as a suspect after a police officer was threatened with a knife-like object in Duisburg. On Friday, 16 October 2026, at 11:45 a.m., the plainclothes officer saw the man run out of a discount store on Bertha-von-Suttner-Straße, hide behind a rubbish bin and move items from his jacket into a backpack. After the officer approached him and identified himself as police, the man allegedly pulled the object from his backpack, adopted a threatening posture and insulted the officer. He then escaped on a tram. Police are investigating him for making threats and have not established whether the items he moved were stolen.
