Pre-trial detention ordered after alleged knife attack in Duisburg
Three people were injured during a dispute outside the Weiße Riese building on Ottostraße in Duisburg in the early hours of 18 July. According to those involved, a 22-year-old man allegedly escalated during a verbal conflict and may have injured people with a knife. One of the injured people, also aged 22, suffered serious injuries but is no longer in life-threatening danger, police said.
The suspect initially fled. Following investigations and information from the public, police provisionally arrested him on 19 July. A judge ordered his pre-trial detention on 20 July, including on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. Prosecutors classify the incident as an attempted homicide, while the background and motive remain under investigation.
