Man provisionally detained after knife attack in Duisburg
A homicide squad is investigating an alleged attempted killing following a knife attack in Duisburg. On New Year's evening, a 35-year-old man is alleged to have forced his way into the home of his estranged 30-year-old wife and attacked her 29-year-old new partner with a knife. The 29-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries but is now out of immediate danger.
When the 30-year-old tried to stop her husband from continuing, both of them were injured. The man left the apartment while injured, but police found him outside the apartment building and provisionally detained him. All three people were taken to hospital, and the suspect was due to be brought before a judge.
