Burglar attempts to stab police officer with screwdriver in Düsseldorf
Following an attempted apartment burglary in Düsseldorf, a 26-year-old man allegedly tried unsuccessfully to stab a police officer with a screwdriver. The officer and his wife, who is also a police officer, had noticed suspicious sounds in the stairwell of an apartment building on Sunday evening and encountered three men fleeing. Two men escaped, while the third hid in the cellar. When he tried to flee from there, he allegedly used the screwdriver. He was brought to the ground and restrained until additional officers arrived; the investigation is ongoing.
