Taxi driver attacked with knife in Dresden

According to police and prosecutors, a 54-year-old taxi driver was suddenly attacked with a knife during a journey in Dresden at about 02:00 on 22 May. He suffered stab wounds to the back of his head and required hospital treatment. The taxi left the road and struck a kerb at the junction of Ammonstraße and Rosenstraße. The accused is alleged to have fled after the driver fought back, but was provisionally detained later that day. A detention order was subsequently issued against the 28-year-old, who is in pre-trial detention and denies the allegation. Investigations on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm are continuing.
