Man with knife threatens police officers in Crailsheim

During a police operation on Thursday morning in Crailsheim, a 43-year-old suspected shoplifter armed with a knife is reported to have created a threatening situation. Officers had initially been called to a petrol station over suspected shoplifting and caught up with the man after he fled on foot on Friedrich-Bergius-Straße.

Investigators said the man acted aggressively and refused to drop the knife despite a warning shot and pepper spray. A police officer then fired several shots. The man was injured and taken to hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening. The Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation into the use of the firearm, while the wider investigation continued.
