Suspect remanded after two knife robberies

A 62-year-old man is suspected of carrying out two robberies at businesses in Braunschweig. During a robbery at a flower shop on Steinweg on 9 March and another at a business in the city centre on 19 March, he is alleged to have threatened cashiers with a utility knife and demanded cash. Police said the offender fled with a three-figure sum on each occasion. Investigators linked the incidents through victim descriptions, a composite image and video recordings. The suspect was identified and provisionally arrested on Monday, and the suspected weapon was seized. He has been remanded in custody while inquiries also continue into another offence.
