Two men seriously injured in knife attack in Bielefeld
A 44-year-old man allegedly seriously injured two men with a knife in Bielefeld on Friday. Before that, police and prosecutors said, he threatened people in the sales area of a petrol station on Heeper Straße with the knife. He then attacked a cyclist near Ravensberger Park and seriously injured him. A passer-by who tried to help the cyclist was also attacked and suffered life-threatening injuries. Police officers stopped and provisionally detained the suspect; an officer sustained minor injuries during the detention. The seriously injured helper was no longer in danger of death after emergency surgery. On the following day, a judge ordered the man's placement in a psychiatric hospital because of acute psychiatric symptoms.
