Knife attack after confrontation in Berlin-Wilmersdorf

An 18-year-old was critically injured with a knife during a confrontation involving several young men on a pavement in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. According to witnesses, the groups initially exchanged blows before a member of the larger group allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed him.

The injured man was taken to hospital and underwent surgery. Police later said that, following a further emergency operation, he was no longer in danger of dying. His 19-year-old companion suffered bruises and abrasions in the altercation. Three participants initially fled; a 19-year-old later turned himself in at a police station and was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
