Teenager injured in knife attack at Berlin accommodation

A teenager was injured in the back in a knife attack at shared accommodation on Freiheit street in Berlin-Spandau during the night of 18 to 19 May. Officers found him with bleeding stab wounds. After residents gave first aid and police and emergency crews continued treatment, he was taken to hospital for emergency surgery. Doctors said his life was not in danger.

A 32-year-old man is suspected of injuring the teenager. He is alleged to have fled on foot after the attack but was later arrested. Initial findings indicate that the man and the teenager had previously been involved in disputes. The arrested man was due to be brought before an investigating judge, and the investigation is ongoing.
