Man threatens people with knife at Hellersdorf underground station

A 33-year-old man allegedly threatened another man with a knife at about 12:30 a.m. on the mezzanine level of Hellersdorf underground station. Before that, he had thrown a glass bottle onto the ground. Police said he then held a knife in one hand and directed xenophobic abuse at a departing family. A 32-year-old man standing nearby felt threatened and called police. Officers stopped the suspect, found and seized a folding knife. He was allowed to leave after his identity was established; investigations into alleged threats, xenophobic insult and a possible weapons-law violation are continuing.
