Police officer seriously injured in the neck in Berlin-Neukölln

A 31-year-old police commissioner suffered a significant stab wound to the neck during an altercation at police section 55 on Rollbergstraße in Berlin-Neukölln. The officer had noticed a 28-year-old man after the man was alleged to have damaged a police vehicle, reportedly using a knife. The officer received emergency medical treatment at the scene and was then operated on in hospital. After initially being in danger of death, he was reported to be in stable condition. The man was arrested at the scene but released during the night after consultation with prosecutors; at that stage, investigators said there was no confirmed evidence that he had deliberately used a knife against the officer.
