Man allegedly tried to stab passer-by with pen in Berlin

A 49-year-old man allegedly tried several times to stab a 33-year-old man in the neck and upper body with a pen on Friday morning in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The 33-year-old avoided the thrusts and restrained the man until police arrived.

Before that, the man is said to have shouted loudly and harassed passers-by on Wichertstraße. He allegedly followed a teenage girl after she passed him, and she fled into a building entrance. When the 33-year-old intervened, the suspect allegedly first raised his fists and then used the pen. Police arrested him and took him into custody; he was due to appear before a judge. The investigation is ongoing.
