Man seriously injured in alleged machete attack in Winnenden
A 53-year-old patron suffered serious injuries to his face, head and arms at a bar on Turmstraße in Winnenden on the evening of Friday, 16 October. Following an argument of unknown cause, a 33-year-old man allegedly attacked him several times with a machete at about 11 p.m. Paramedics took the injured man to hospital; his life was not in danger. The suspect initially fled but was arrested without resistance by specialist officers at his Winnenden home at about 4 a.m. on Saturday. Officers seized the suspected weapon and other evidence there. On Sunday, a judge ordered the requested arrest warrant into effect, and the man was taken to a correctional facility. Police and prosecutors continue to investigate the attack and its circumstances.
