Man holds knife threateningly at Wilhelmshaven facility

A 49-year-old man allegedly threatened staff with a knife at a homeless facility in Wilhelmshaven's Südstadt district on 11 January. Police said he held the knife in a threatening manner while staff were enforcing a ban from the premises. Officers who were called to the facility took the knife from him. When they then assisted in removing him from the facility, he allegedly tried to punch a policewoman and later kick another officer; both alleged attacks missed. The man was arrested and held in police custody until the following morning. Proceedings were opened against him including for making threats, attempted bodily harm, attempted dangerous bodily harm and assaulting law-enforcement officers.
