Woman critically injured in knife attack in Vlotho
A 27-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a knife by her 31-year-old husband in their shared apartment in Vlotho on the evening of 13 January 2026, leaving her with life-threatening injuries. Neighbours alerted emergency services shortly after 22:00; she was treated at the scene and later underwent surgery in hospital. Police said her condition stabilised after the operation and that there was no longer an acute danger to her life. The suspect had left the apartment building before officers arrived and was initially not apprehended. Prosecutors applied for an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, and police secured the suspected weapon in the apartment. Their two children were in the apartment at the time and were unharmed.
