Man remanded in custody after knife attack at Traunstein station square

A 26-year-old suspect is alleged to have stabbed a 31-year-old man in the upper back with a folding knife at Traunstein station square at around 12:30 a.m. on 12 July, seriously injuring him. The two men had become involved in a heated dispute after exchanging blows with bottles. The 31-year-old required surgery that night and, according to police, is now out of danger. The 26-year-old was also injured. He initially tried to flee when police arrived but was arrested; an investigating judge ordered pre-trial detention on urgent suspicion of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. Criminal police are seeking witnesses to clarify the sequence of events.
