Man threatens staff and police with knife in Sternberg

A 42-year-old man is alleged to have threatened employees at an amusement arcade in Sternberg with a knife on 16 December after he was refused entry because he appeared heavily intoxicated. Police officers called to the scene were also threatened with the knife at about 22:50, according to police. The man did not put down the knife despite repeated requests. Officers then used their firearms and seriously injured him. He underwent surgery, was taken to hospital and is not in life-threatening condition. Investigators are examining allegations including attempted dangerous bodily harm and threats against him, while the police use of firearms is also being reviewed.
