Knife attack on police officer in Steinhagen
Following an operation over a reported assault within a family, a 30-year-old man in Steinhagen initially attacked police officers with his fists. When special forces sought to arrest him in a house at about 8:35 p.m., he allegedly suddenly attacked an officer with a knife. The attack was stopped by the use of firearms. The man was injured, was temporarily assessed as having life-threatening injuries, stabilised after emergency surgery and arrested. A homicide squad is investigating an attempted killing, while prosecutors are reviewing the police operation and firearm use.
