Man attacks police officers with knife in Steinhagen
During a lengthy police operation in Steinhagen, a 30-year-old man attacked an officer with a knife. The operation began after a report of an assault within his family. After initially attacking officers with his fists, the man retreated into a house. When special forces moved in at about 20:35, he attacked again and was stopped by gunfire. He suffered injuries that were temporarily life-threatening, underwent emergency surgery in hospital and was then arrested. Investigators are treating the case as attempted homicide.
