Shoplifter threatens sales assistant with knife in Sömmerda

A 35-year-old man allegedly threatened a sales assistant with a knife at a supermarket in Sömmerda. Police said he had pushed a shopping trolley containing food worth more than 100 euros through the checkout area without paying. When an employee tried to stop him, he threatened her with the knife in his jacket pocket and fled. The store manager alerted police and pursued him. Officers provisionally arrested the man shortly afterward, and he is being investigated for theft with a weapon.
