Man threatens police with knives in Siegen
Following a family dispute in Siegen-Weidenau, a 25-year-old man armed with knives threatened to stab police officers. Relatives had called emergency services on the evening of 16 December, after which the man barricaded himself in a room of the apartment. Police brought the other family members out of the apartment and evacuated nearby flats. Special forces subdued the man shortly after 02:00. He was injured during the operation and taken to hospital after receiving initial treatment, while the officers were uninjured. Police found further knives as well as a machete and a sword in the apartment; according to the investigation so far, the man did not possess the hand grenade he had claimed to have.
