Man remanded in custody after knife attack in Schwalmstadt

A 25-year-old man is accused of attacking a 21-year-old fellow resident with a utility knife at an accommodation facility for refugees in Schwalmstadt on 23 October, stabbing him in the neck. The injured man required surgery and remained in hospital, though treating doctors said his life was not in danger. Prosecutors are investigating the suspect on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. A judge issued a detention order after the man appeared in court on 24 October, and he remains in pre-trial custody.
