Man threatens shop staff and police officers in Neustadt with bayonet

A 56-year-old man is alleged to have threatened two employees with a bayonet on Thursday evening in the car park of a grocery store on Sierksdorfer Straße in Neustadt. Police had initially been called because two people were outside the shop drinking beer. When officers later drove past the car park, they saw the man back at the store, disarmed him and seized the bayonet. According to police, he also threatened police officers during the subsequent transport and at the hospital. He was taken to hospital to sober up, and police are investigating, among other matters, threats and an assault on law-enforcement officers.
