Employee threatened with knife at Rostock supermarket

A 35-year-old man is accused of threatening an employee with a pocket knife at a supermarket in Rostock's Evershagen district on 14 April. A store detective had previously observed him placing food in a backpack, apparently intending not to pay for it.

After he was taken to the store office, the man allegedly became increasingly aggressive and pulled the knife from his trouser pocket. The store detective de-escalated the situation, after which the man put the knife down. Police arrested the suspect, and a judge ordered him remanded in custody.
