Shoplifter threatens employee with knife in Recklinghausen

On the evening of 21 August, an employee at a supermarket on Oerweg in Recklinghausen noticed a man putting food into a bag and attempting to leave without paying. When she confronted him about the suspected theft, he allegedly threatened her with a knife and fled. A photograph of the man was taken during the incident. Officers recognised the 25-year-old during another operation the following afternoon and provisionally detained him. The Recklinghausen local court issued a pre-trial detention order following an application by the public prosecutor's office.
