Two people injured in knife attack in Nuremberg

Two people were injured in an alleged knife attack in the Marienberg district of Nuremberg. On 25 March, at about 9:30 p.m., a witness alerted police after a man allegedly injured the two people walking their dog with a knife on Hugo-Junkers-Straße.

According to the initial findings, the 40-year-old man and the 45-year-old woman were attacked without warning while out with their dog. The 27-year-old suspect initially fled but was provisionally detained near the scene. Both injured people were taken to hospital and were able to leave after treatment later that night.

The suspected weapon was secured. The homicide unit is investigating on suspicion of attempted homicide; investigators said no prior relationship between the suspect and the injured people was known at that stage. Prosecutors applied for detention, and the suspect was due to be brought before an investigating judge.
