Life-threatening knife injury in Nienburg investigated as attempted homicide
A 25-year-old man suffered a life-threatening knife injury in Nienburg at around 7 p.m. on 25 October 2026. A 23-year-old relative is strongly suspected, and prosecutors and police are investigating suspected attempted homicide. The injured man fled into a snack bar, where he collapsed. Police say he survived because he received immediate medical care; he remains in hospital. Bystanders overpowered the suspect before officers provisionally detained him. The following day, an investigating judge ordered his provisional placement in a psychiatric hospital. The investigation continues.
