Machete attack in Neustadt am Rübenberge: suspect arrested
A 26-year-old man allegedly attacked and injured his 62-year-old neighbour with a machete in an apartment building in Neustadt am Rübenberge-Poggenhagen during the night into Sunday. The injured man got back into his flat and called emergency services; he was released after a short hospital stay. The suspect later allegedly attacked police officers with the machete. An officer fired a shot but did not hit him. Special officers subdued the still armed man with a Taser and arrested him; he sustained minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
