Cyclist seriously injured in knife attack in Neu-Ulm
A 57-year-old cyclist was seriously injured on 5 May near the Iller cycle path and Illerholzweg in Neu-Ulm. According to police, a 26-year-old man first pushed him off his bicycle, causing the cyclist to fall into the River Iller. The attacker is alleged to have held the man's head under water and injured him with a knife. The suspect fled after witnesses addressed him. The injured cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance. Police later located the suspect at a bridge during the search; after officers spoke to him, he jumped and suffered fatal injuries. Criminal police are investigating the sequence of events and the background.
