Man threatens police officers with a knife in Munich

A 36-year-old man verbally threatened police officers with a knife in Munich-Schwabing on 6 October as they tried to contact him. Witnesses had reported at about 16:50 that he was throwing objects from his apartment balcony into a courtyard. The officers withdrew, called for reinforcements and surrounded the building. After police opened the apartment door, the man tried to jump to a neighbouring balcony, slipped and eventually fell onto an officer who was trying to catch him. The man received hospital treatment and was then admitted to a psychiatric clinic because of his dangerous behaviour; the officer was slightly injured but remained fit for duty. A complaint was filed against the man over the threat, and the investigation continues.
