Suspect detained after man seriously injured with sharp object in Munich
A 31-year-old suspect is in pre-trial detention following an attack in Munich's old town. At about 01:55 on 2 September 2026, a 29-year-old man was seriously injured in the upper body with a sharp object during an encounter there with a man whose identity was then unknown. He survived emergency surgery; the attacker initially fled. Following an investigation, the suspect was arrested on 29 October, and an arrest warrant was issued on charges including attempted manslaughter. Investigators currently believe the men had not known each other and that a dispute was probably behind the attack. The investigation continues.
