Man critically injured with pointed object in Munich’s old town

A 29-year-old man was seriously and critically injured in the upper body with a pointed object in Munich’s old town. According to the current investigation, he had tried to intervene in an argument involving a couple in a passage between Ledererstraße and Burgstraße when the man attacked him.

The injured man called police himself. Officers initially provided emergency medical assistance before he was taken to a Munich hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Police said he was no longer in critical danger afterward. The suspected attacker and his female companion fled, and an initial search produced no leads. Police are investigating on suspicion of attempted homicide.
