Man arrested after serious knife robbery in Moers
A 36-year-old man is alleged to have forced a 19-year-old to hand over his wallet and other valuables while displaying a knife on a green space on Mühlenstraße in Moers at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. After the handover, he allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the victim's face. Police provisionally detained the man near the scene; a pre-trial detention order was issued but suspended subject to conditions. Criminal police are investigating him on suspicion of serious robbery and an offence under narcotics law. The man had been accompanied by an as-yet unidentified person, and police are seeking further witnesses.
