74-year-old man remanded after knife attack in Mechernich
A 74-year-old man is alleged to have stabbed a 30-year-old acquaintance with a knife in a café in Mechernich at about 5:10 p.m. on 25 August. The man sustained a shoulder injury after avoiding what was described as a potentially life-threatening injury. Emergency staff treated him at the scene, and he later left hospital after outpatient treatment. Officers arrested the suspect near the scene. An investigating judge later issued a remand order on suspicion of attempted murder.
