Man remanded in custody after knife attack in Mannheim
A 20-year-old suspect is alleged to have stabbed a 31-year-old man in the lower abdomen with a knife on a public street in Mannheim on 1 January. The man, who had been standing on the pavement making a phone call, sustained serious injuries and underwent emergency surgery; he was later no longer in critical condition.
According to police and prosecutors, the suspect fled after the attack. He was arrested in Heilbronn on 26 January and remanded in custody on suspicion of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. The investigation is ongoing.
