Man critically injured with machete in Mannheim

A 36-year-old man was allegedly critically injured with a machete at the Tattersallstraße tram stop in Mannheim on 27 November. Police and prosecutors said a 32-year-old suspect had first become involved in a verbal dispute with him, pushed him to the ground and struck him with the blunt side of the blade. The suspect then allegedly inflicted cut and stab injuries on the kneeling man, including a life-threatening injury to his thigh. Officers stopped the severe bleeding, and emergency surgery saved the injured man's life, according to the authorities. The suspect was arrested near the scene and remanded in pre-trial detention.
