Mannheim: Man allegedly attacked mother with kitchen knife
A 27-year-old man allegedly attacked his 61-year-old mother with a kitchen knife in the kitchen of the family home in Mannheim's Lindenhof district on 24 March. According to prosecutors and police, he stabbed her in the back and head, allegedly intending to kill her. The woman fled into the street and received first aid until emergency personnel arrived. She suffered multiple stab wounds to her upper body and neck, at least one of which required surgery; she was reported to be stable and not in danger of dying. A placement order was issued against the suspect on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. Following a court appearance, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, while the investigation continues.
