21-year-old remanded after knife attack in Mannheim

An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in Mannheim during an argument with her 21-year-old former partner. The man is alleged to have stabbed her several times with a knife at about 11:40 p.m. on Monday on Koblenzer Straße before fleeing. The woman reached a gaming arcade, received emergency assistance and underwent emergency surgery in hospital; authorities later said her life was no longer in danger. Police provisionally arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. On 15 January, an investigating judge issued a warrant on the prosecution's application on suspicion of attempted murder combined with dangerous bodily harm.
