Man arrested after knife robbery at Mainz supermarket
A 53-year-old man is alleged to have threatened a cashier with a kitchen knife and demanded cash from the till at a supermarket in Mainz-Hartenberg-Münchfeld at about 16:20 on 8 January. When the cashier called for help, an employee came to the checkout and told the man to put the knife away and leave. The suspect then left the sales area and was arrested shortly afterwards outside a bakery located in the store. No cash was handed over and nobody was injured. Police said goods worth about nine euros were stolen, and an investigation on suspicion of aggravated robbery is continuing.
