Man held after knife attack in suspected robbery in Mainz
A 28-year-old man is alleged to have demanded money from a 38-year-old man on Zanggasse in Mainz's old town on Monday evening and injured him in the upper body with a knife. He is then alleged to have fled.
Witnesses provided information about the fleeing man, and police arrested him shortly afterwards in the stairwell of a nearby residential building. Police officers gave first aid to the injured man before ambulance personnel took over; he was treated in hospital, was responsive and in stable condition. A judge ordered pre-trial detention for the accused on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
